The Story
BrockThompson
“The person who was told his voice might never fully return is standing onstage telling stories with it.”
Born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, Brock Thompson developed an early appreciation for country music through his grandmother’s love for the genre and the vinyl records she played as he frequently visited her home. Drawn to the honest storytelling and timeless sound of traditional country, what began as a childhood interest eventually became a passion for writing, recording, and performing music of his own. His sound and style is carved of real places, people, experiences, and a look at life through the fresh perspective of a country boy from a town that sits between river and railroad.
Influenced by artists like, Brad Paisley, Tyler Childers, and Hardy, Thompson began releasing original music in 2018, followed by his Sippin' on a Memory EP in 2019. His music combines traditional country influences with a contemporary sound, delivering honest lyrics, deep-rooted in appalachain life.
In 2021, Thompson's career took an unexpected turn when he developed spasmodic dysphonia, a voice disorder that threatened his ability to speak and sing ever again. Through faith, perseverance, and five long years away from the industry, Thompson recovered one day a time, re-located to Nashville, TN, and is actively performing live and recording, once again.
Now based in Nashville, Thompson continues to pursue his career as a country artist and songwriter, writing and recording music shaped by his experiences, influences, and appreciation for authentic storytelling. With new music on the horizon, he remains committed to creating songs that resonate with listeners and reflect the country music traditions that inspired him from the beginning.
